Volunteer Requirement Information

Volunteering through OUSD
The Oakland Ed Fund coordinates volunteers in partnership with OUSD. To volunteer in the classroom or for certain other roles, you must complete their registration process. Some roles also require a background check and fingerprinting. The Ed Fund also coordinates groups of volunteers from companies and other organizations, if you are interested in a community service project.

Parents / Guardians wanting to work with students one-on-one for mentoring, tutoring, chaperoning overnight field trips and/or driving students to a field trip must complete the live scan fingerprint clearance as well. Volunteers who are fully cleared in this way will be given a badge and lanyard to wear while volunteering to denote their clearance level.
